Saranac Lake Mountain Melodies Music Camp FAQs
Do I need to have any musical experience to join the camp? Students of all musical abilities and experience are welcome at Mountain Melodies camp! We are ready to work with musicians of all levels. We have enough experienced staff to assess needs and differentiate our instruction during the week.
If I have a lot of musical experience, is this camp for me? See the answer to the question above.
What is a voice part, and do I need to know mine? Your voice part is determined by your vocal range, or the pitches that your voice is most comfortable producing. In choral music, the commonly identified voice parts are soprano, alto, tenor and bass. You do NOT need to know your voice part before camp. Our choral teachers will help determine the best voice part for you during camp.
Do I need to bring anything with me? You do not. We will have snack time, however, so you will be able to bring a snack and water bottle. If you have an instrument at home, let us know on the first day of camp, and we will let you know if it would be useful to bring it in to be part of your experience. There will be a variety of instruments provided at camp for you to explore.
Are there scholarships for financial need? Yes! Reach out to Carolyn Greenberg at slmountainmelodies@gmail.com to inquire. Confidentiality is assured.
Will we get to perform for anyone? Yes! We will have a showcase at the end of camp for parents and family. We may also have an opportunity to perform at the Saranac Lake ArtWalk on Thursday night during the week of camp. And, of course, campers will be able to share their talents and creations with each other.
